RSPCA WA gets Twittering!
April 6 2009
First we launched our new website, then we launched the hugely popular Facebook site, followed by our YouTube page and last week we launched our Flickr website and now... Well now it's time for a bit of a Twitter.
RSPCA WA is embracing the Internet and all its social networking tools so that it can better speak to you, the public who keep us going. Already, we receive upto 100 hundred mails a week from our Facebook site which has become an important means for us to stay in touch with our Net-Savvy supporters.
"Our internet strategy is driven by one thing and one thing only," says Richard Barry, spokesman and webmaster for the RSPCA, "and that's to communicate with people who care about animals.
"Facebook, which was launched just five months ago, now has 554 friends and is a vital tool for talking to people, especially when we put on events. It's also been a great way to get feedback on what we're doing from one month to another.
"YouTube has been a superb way of getting some of our messages out there and at Christmas it was pivotal in disseminating our Christmas Wishtree film which raised us thousands of dollars. Flickr has only just come on-line and now we've got Twitter going, we reckon we can congratulate ourselves for ensuring our supporters can reach us on a variety of platforms, be it on their computer or their mobile phone."
If you would like to Twitter us, we are RSPCAWA on twitter and we would love to hear from you. On Facebook we are Rspca Wa (note the upper and lower case!) and on Flickr we are rspcawa
If anyone would like to watch an RSPCA-related video from us on YouTube, simply type RSPCA WA and you'll be taken to our page.
We really enjoy meeting all our supporters online so please drop by one of our online services and say hello.
