Chris Peacock donated his DSSupporters get Pawsing!

February 25 2009

Paws for a Cause is literally around the corner with our street event taking place this Friday in Murray Street Mall between 7am and 3pm.

Everyone who has been working so hard to raise money for this year’s event will be taking part in one of our biggest annual fundraisers so it’s really important to celebrate their efforts.

Paws for a Cause is a month-long campaign that encourages the community to take a pause and think about animal welfare.

After a good think, they then setup their own fund-raising events to raise vital funds for the Society.

All around WA people have been raising money for Paws for a Cause by setting up their very own fundraising ventures.

One of our favourite fundraising initiatives came from Baldivis where 9-year-old Chris Peacock (pictured)  is auctioning his Nintendo DS and his Playstation for a month to raise money for us!!!

Chris, who has now been without his DS for over a week wrote:

“I'm just over half way there & so far I have $162.55 mostly from family & friends.  I take the RSPCA box that I got in my pack to school with me everyday, just incase!

My Dad's mate came over last night & I was playing on the playstation & he said he would give me another $15 if I gave up playstation as well - so I have.”

And in The Great Southern the Myakai Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing club is doing a variety of events to raise money for us including:

Punches
Kicks
Push – ups

Senior Sensei Bruce McCarthy said everyone involved would be a bit tired after the sponsored events but if it’s all going towards helping the animals then it’s all worth it.
