Another kangaroo attack - RSPCA appeals for help
February 16 2009
Persons living on or near Estuary Road, near Fernwood road in Dawesville are being asked for help in catching several young men who are believed to have been involved in the brutal slaughter of a kangaroo early Monday morning.
The Kangaroo was found beheaded and gutted by police officers who attended the scene.
According to the police at least two vehicles were at the scene while the incident was in progress and the RSPCA is appealing for anyone who knows the individuals involved to step forward.
“We are begging for anyone who knows these cowards to stand up and say enough is enough,” said Richard Barry, spokesman for the RSPCA in Western Australia. “Someone knows who these pathetic thugs are but if no one comes forward they will get away with this sickening attack.”
The incident is the latest in a string of vicious attacks against kangaroos which appear to be becoming increasingly violent.
“The link between violence to animals and humans is undeniable and I shudder to think what has happened to these cowardly miscreants that makes them think doing this to a kangaroo is OK,” said Barry.
“These people need to be caught and we are appealing to the people living in the area between Estuary road and Fernwood road in Dawesville to please come forward if they know anything about this.
“It is absolutely vital we get as much information about this incident as possible. Without it, we have nothing to go on.”
Anyone with information relating to any of the recent kangaroo attacks is urged to call the RSPCA on 9209 9300 or by completing an online complaints form.
