Roo beheaded in Dawesville

18-year-old pleads guilty to kangaroo slaying

Shannon Christopher Conway, an 18-year-old male from Dawesville today pleaded guilty to the charge of ill treatment to an animal under section 19-1-A of the Animal Welfare Act of Western Australia.

Conway was charged by police earlier this week in relation to an incident earlier this week, where a kangaroo was decapitated and gutted.

The magistrate has remanded Conway until 6th March.

Police continue to investigate a second 20-year-old male who has yet to be charged.

The Kangaroo was found beheaded and gutted by police officers who attended the scene on Sunday night after receiving complaints from the public.

According to the police at least two vehicles were at the scene while the incident was in progress.

The incident is the latest in a string of vicious attacks against kangaroos which appear to be becoming increasingly violent.
