Sonshine lends a paw to the RSPCASonshine FM lends a paw!

25 February 2009

95.8 Sonshine FM has teamed up with the RSPCA this year to promote Paws for a Cause and for the first time ever, a radio station will be providing a live broadcast from one of our events in the city.

This coming Friday 27th February the Sonshine team - Rodney Olsen, Tim Long and other special guests – will be joining the RSPCA between 9am and 3pm at the Murray Street Mall to raise money for Paws for a Cause.

If you’re in the area, why not pop down to see us, have a boogie and spend some money in one of our stalls!

Paws For A Cause is all about individuals, groups and businesses using their own ideas to raise money for the animals we protect and re-home and the event has quickly become RSPCA Western Australia's biggest fundraising appeal.

Every cent raised goes towards helping the animals and this year - for the first time - we'll be using Facebook to show off the fundraising initiatives people all over WA will be coming up with.

Rescuing animals from abuse and neglect, prosecuting cruel owners, caring for unwanted pets and finding them new homes – it all comes at a cost of almost $5 million every year. As a charity finding that money every year is a massive challenge and we rely almost entirely on the generosity of Western Australians to fund these programs.

So what's it all about?

Now in its fifth year, Paws for a Cause is unique to Western Australia and was conceived to raise money for animals who obviously cannot protect themselves. They need the RSPCA to continue its work protecting, housing and healing animals in need.

Now, every February in WA sees people, groups and businesses getting involved with Paws for a Cause. Everyone works hard to raise vital funds by registering on our fabulous Paws For A Cause Website to run an event for the animals.
