Protecting the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our top priority during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
If you'd like to adopt an animal from RSPCA WA, you will need to make an appointment to visit the shelter. To avoid disapppointment, please do not visit the Shelter without making an appointment.
You can search all the animals available for adoption online at www.adoptapet.com.au.
Once you’ve found a pet you think may be right for you, make an appointment and provide your details. Appointments are available to meet dogs, cats and other animals on-site at RSPCA Animal Care Centre in Malaga.
45-minute appointments are scheduled throughout the day between 10am-5pm on weekdays and 10am-4pm on weekends. You can still make an adoption appointment if you don't have a specific animal in mind.
What you need to know before adopting a pet
Choosing the right pet for you can be fun, but it takes time, planning and patience.
First, consider very carefully both your needs and the needs of any animal that comes into your life. How much time you can spend for exercise with your pet, how much space you have and how much you can afford to pay for food, toys and possible vet bills.
To make this process easier, RSPCA has introduced Adoptapet, a national website that lets you find the animals awaiting adoption at RSPCA WA.

When adopting your new best friend, please note:
- If you rent your property, we require proof from your landlord that you are allowed to keep pets. We can accept your rental lease or a letter from your landlord as proof. Please bring this with you when you visit our shelter.
- To ensure everyone in your family is compatible with the animal you’re interested in adopting, we do require everyone in the household to meet the animal prior to adoption
- If you already own a dog and are adopting another dog, they will need to have a dog meet prior to adoption to ensure they’re compatible. Please also bring with you the vaccination certificate of the dog you already own
- If adopting livestock, a PIC (Property Identification Code) number is required
If adopting a horse, please fill out an expression of interest form
Please click here to download our Adoption Application Form. You can fill it in to save time during our adoption process.
