Save money and animals at best op shop in WA
Customers not only get retail therapy when they shop at RSPCA WA's op shop in Port Kennedy, they also get to help animals in need throughout the state - and now there’s an even bigger reason to pay the charity shop a visit – it’s just been named the best op shop in WA.
The Sunlight Drive shop, which is staffed largely by volunteers, scooped the award during the ‘I Love to Op Shop’ competition which attracted dozens of entries throughout WA during National Op Shop Week 2015.
The charity shop has been described as a well-kept secret by locals who enjoy the thrill of the bargain hunt as well as directing their money towards helping sick and injured animals in Perth, and elsewhere in WA.
RSPCA WA Shop Manager, Sue Stewart, said she and the team of 15 shop volunteers were hugely excited when they discovered they had taken out the award for best op shop in WA.
“We were all thrilled at the news because proceeds raised at the shop goes towards the prevention of animal cruelty and neglect, and so not only can locals find a bargain when they come in, they’re also helping support the great work that RSPCA WA carries out in the community,” Ms Stewart said.
“We know we have a great shop here on Sunlight Drive, in fact our regular customers tell us how much fun they have searching for real bargains, funky styles and quality clothes and household items.
“It really does feel fantastic to have won this competition.”
The RSPCA Op Shop at Port Kennedy is located at Unit 3/1- 5 Sunlight Drive. The shop sells a range of children and adults clothing and quality household appliances and items.
RSPCA WA needs to raise more than 90 per cent of its income, as it only receives $500,000 a year from the WA government.
