Retiring Board member honoured with Life Membership

Retiring RSPCA WA Board member Heidi Shields has been honoured with Life Membership at the Annual General Meeting held at the Malaga Shelter on Friday October 23.

Heidi has been an elected member of the Board since 2007 and has been an outstanding contributor, not only as a Board member but also as a volunteer and auxiliary.

On moving to Perth, Heidi began volunteering at the Malaga shelter and held the position of Secretary of the Perth Auxiliary between 2004 and 2009. Heidi was elected to the RSPCA WA Board in 2007, appointed Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee in 2009, and re-elected for a second term in 2011. In 2010, she represented WA at the RSPCA National Forum.

Heidi was Secretary of the Western Australia Dragon Boat Association for 10 years, competing at the 2009 World Championships in Prague, and is a sitting member on the Animal Ethics Committees of the Perth Zoo and Harry Perkins Institute.
