Cupcake Fundraiser is the Icing on the Cake for Animal Lovers
RSPCA WA is launching the sweetest fundraiser of the year with a call to arms to all bakers and cupcake lovers to dust off their cookbooks, dig out their mixing bowls and grease their cupcake trays to fight animal cruelty one cupcake at a time.
RSPCA Cupcake Day will take place on Monday 21 August, and all proceeds raised will help support the rescue and rehabilitation of thousands of animals across WA.
Participants can host their event any time in August, with many enthusiastic bakers hosting several events in the lead up to the big day. Registering is easy – and all hosts are sent a Cupcake Day Host Kit that includes Cupcake Day branded balloons, bunting and posters to help with their event.
And for those who enjoy eating cupcakes more than baking them, RSPCA WA has teamed up with cafes and bakeries across Perth who are taking orders for Cupcake Day events and donating part proceeds to RSPCA WA.
A list of Official RSPCA Cupcake Day Baking Partners can be found at www.rspcawa.asn.au/events/rspca-cupcake-day and these include vegan and gluten-free options, dog-friendly treats, and an ice cream partner for those who want something different.
Maree Daniels, Executive Manager of Community Engagement at RSPCA WA said Cupcake Day was a positive way to raise much needed funds for animals in need, and that those participating didn't need to be a master chef to get involved - just animal lovers who want to make a difference.
“Cupcake Day brings people together and this is probably one of the reasons why the event is so popular. We know that at people’s events they are no doubt chatting about their much loved pets at home; the beauty however is in sharing the joys a pet can bring to your life, combined with raising funds for those animals who don’t have a loving home of their own, at the same time.
“This year with baking partners on board, even if you don’t enjoy baking or can’t find the time to bake, you can get involved too. And the Cupcake Day website includes many recipes, including one for homemade “pupcakes” for your furry friends and vegan and gluten-free options too,” Ms Daniels added.
“By registering as an RSPCA Cupcake Day Host or simply by indulging in a cupcake at someone else’s event, you’ll be supporting the fight against animal cruelty, helping to keep Inspectors on the road and assisting with rescuing and rehabilitating animals that need it the most.
“Every dollar counts when it comes to rescuing animals, and it’s fantastic that so many animal lovers choose to sign up and help raise much-needed funds on Cupcake Day,” Ms Daniels finished.
Participants who raise more than $200 and bank their funds by 3:30pm (AWST) on Thursday 31 August will go into the draw to win a trip for two to Koi Dessert Bar in Sydney for a five-hour MasterClass with former MasterChef contestant and dessert artiste extraordinaire, Reynold Poernomo, valued at $4,000.
