CAT SHOT IN BYFORD - CALL FOR INFORMATION

RSPCA WA is calling for information regarding a cat shooting between 7:30 and 9:30pm on Tuesday night (19 September) on Henry George Close in Byford.

A family cat went outside around 7:30pm and came in at approximately 9:30pm, and was bleeding from a wound to its abdomen. The cat was rushed to a vet, but died from its injuries. 

An air rifle pellet was recovered from the cat.

RSPCA WA is working with WA Police to gather information about this incident. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 CRUELTY (278 3589).

It is an offence, under section 19(1) of the Animal Welfare Act (2002), to intentionally or recklessly injure an animal. Those found guilty face maximum penalties of a $50,000 fine and up to five years in prison.
