RSPCA Responds to Two Disturbing Reports of Cruelty Overnight
  • RSPCA WA Inspectors are today following up leads to two disturbing reports of animal cruelty in the metropolitan area overnight.
  • In Victoria Park, a Jack Russell Pug cross dog living next door to a construction site was allegedly shot with a nail gun. The owner said his dog is lucky to be alive, as the 9cm nail narrowly missed its spine and lungs. The dog was treated by a vet and is recovering with its owner. The case is currently being investigated to ascertain if this was a deliberate act of cruelty or a work place accident.
  • In Quinns Rocks, a video was posted on social media that appears to show a young girl laughing as she slaps a dog in the face, repeatedly with considerable force, with a rubber thong while another girl films it. RSPCA has been inundated with reports to the Cruelty Hotline and via Facebook. An RSPCA Inspector is currently in the area investigating this report.

Comments attributed to David van Ooran, RSPCA WA CEO:

“We are deeply concerned about these reports that came in overnight – injury and pain inflicted on family pets which is happening in our streets and neighbourhoods.

“What is most disturbing is that both of these reports have come from alleged incidents at people’s homes, and appear to show harm done to defenceless animals.

“The outrage we have seen about both of these cases demonstrates that the community totally rejects any form of cruelty towards animals and I’d like to thank those people who reported these cases to us. The only way we are going to stop cruelty to animals is to all take action.

“RSPCA WA Inspectors are on the roads following up these and other cases as we speak – we will do everything we can to bring justice for animals and help end animal cruelty.”

Please let me know if you seize the dog from Quinns Rocks. I would love to adopt this animal and give him/her a safe and loving home free of cruelty.

I hope this young girl is educated on how hurting her pet isn’t funny the dog looks helpless as it lay there taking being slapped
This young girl seems to think that’s how you entertain friends or siblings
Please I pray RSPCA has found this poor dog
