WANTED: Animal Welfare Heroes
RSPCA WA is calling on the public to help them identify and celebrate West Australians doing exceptional things for animals.
Nominations are now open for the 2019 RSPCA WA State Awards Program, which comprises five categories designed to recognise commitment, courage and bravery by individuals, groups, and even animals.
The five award categories are:
- RSPCA WA Animal Bravery Award
- RSPCA WA Humane Award
- RSPCA WA Youth Award
- RSPCA WA Community Action Award
- RSPCA WA Volunteer of the Year Award
Award category descriptions and nomination forms can be found on the RSPCA WA website here.
Nominations close 23 August 2019 and awards will be presented at a ceremony on World Animal Day 2019 (4 October). Read about last year’s RSPCA WA State Awards Program winners here.
Comments attributed to RSPCA WA CEO Iain Torrance:
“Working on the front line to help animals in need across WA means we regularly see heartbreaking acts of cruelty and neglect.
“But, overwhelmingly, WA is a State full of animal lovers, and it’s so important we take time to celebrate the good things happening in our community.
“There are people across WA doing heroic and inspiring things to help animals and they deserve recognition, which is why RSPCA WA launched its State Awards Program in 2018.
“We hope that by sharing moving stories, like those of last year’s award winners Dean, Kylie, June and Marissa, others are inspired to treat animals with kindness and compassion.
“If you know an individual or group doing exceptional things to protect animals or improve welfare standards, or an animal who has gone to great lengths to protect someone, we want to know about it.”
