RSPCA WA Directors re-appointed at AGM

RSPCA WA Directors re-appointed at AGM

RSPCA WA held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, 10 May, 2019, at RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre in Malaga. This was the first AGM since RSPCA WA transitioned to a company limited by guarantee.

RSPCA WA Chair, Lynne Bradshaw AM, welcomed Members at the AGM, together with Directors of the Board and new RSPCA WA Chief Executive Officer, Iain Torrance.

As a result of the changes to the organisation’s legal structure, eight Directors of the Board were required to stand for re-election. Mr Ian Cowie (Deputy Chair), Ms Giselle di San Marzano, Mr Jamie Hamilton, Ms Pamela Hass, Ms Heather MacFarquhar, Ms Alice Manners, Ms Renata Paliskis, and Mr Darren Smith were all re-elected as Directors.

During the meeting, Ms Bradshaw recapped the achievements of the organisation for the 2017-2018 reporting period, which included:

  • the introduction of tighter restrictions on long-haul live sheep exports during the northern hemisphere summer;
  • RSPCA WA’s contribution to the Stop Puppy Farming Implementation Working Group and public consultation efforts to develop regulations around dog breeding;
  • progress of the Animal Welfare Amendments Bill through WA Parliament to enable national standards for livestock to be implemented in WA; and
  • the launch of the Pets in Crisis Program offering refuge for pets caught up in family and domestic violence.

RSPCA WA’s 2017-18 Annual Report and Financial Statements can be found here.

RSPCA WA, the state’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity, relies on generous donations and community support for over 90% of the funding required to continue its animal protection work.
