Bake a Difference with RSPCA's Cupcake Day
The sweetest fundraising event of the year is back, and RSPCA WA is calling on people to pre-heat their ovens, dust off their aprons and bake, ice and share sweet treats, all in the name of fighting animal cruelty.
RSPCA’s Cupcake Day will take place on Monday 19 August, but participants can host a morning or afternoon tea at their workplace, at home, or with friends, on any day throughout the month, with every dollar raised going towards sick, injured and neglected animals.
Everyone who registers will receive a special Host Kit, containing helpful tips, recipe ideas, a cute oven-shaped donation box and posters and bunting to decorate their event.
Those who raise $20 will also receive a special edition RSPCA Cupcake Day Recipe book, containing a range of traditional and vegan recipes, as well as home-made treats for pups, from renowned chefs like Maggie Beer and Donna Hay.
Hosts who bank their donations by 6 September go in the draw to win a trip for two to the Barossa Valley including return economy flights, two nights’ accommodation, a $100 dinner voucher and more.

RSPCA WA relies on donations and community support for over 90 per cent of the funds required to sustain its animal protection work.
Comments attributed to RSPCA WA Events Coordinator Nicola White:
“Cupcake Day is the sweetest way to make a difference and help raise much-needed funds to fight animal cruelty – and you certainly don’t need to be a master chef to get involved!
“Whether you go sweet or savoury, or bake it or fake it – it doesn’t matter! Your efforts will mean everything to the thousands of abused, neglected and abandoned animals who rely on RSPCA for help every year.
“Did you know $100 raised through your bake sale will cover one week of antibiotics for an animal recovering from emergency surgery?
“This year, we’ve got some great prizes and incentives on offer for superstar fundraisers. And the sooner you register the more chances you’ll have to win.
“Plus you’re guaranteed to win some “brownie” points with your friends and co-workers by hosting a tasty morning or afternoon tea in August.
“Of course, the biggest winners will be animals in need across WA, whose lives are directly impacted by every dollar raised through Cupcake Day.
“We’ve found fundraisers who donate to their own page receive, on average, 120% more donations than those who don’t, so why not donate the first $20 upon registration and get the pin rolling?”
