A WA man has appeared in court charged with animal cruelty for failing to alleviate harm suffered by his pet dog ‘Pepper Pig’, an adult female Shar Pei which was found to be suffering from skin, eye and ear problems requiring treatment.

RSPCA WA is appalled at the footage of the abhorrent treatment of sheep in the long-haul live export industry. We are equally stunned that, despite the overwhelming evidence, the Federal Department of Agriculture has granted yet another export licence to this same, repeat-offender exporter.
The footage last night showed the distressing experience of sheep on long-haul export journeys – most of which is caused by high stocking density, extreme heat conditions, and lack of veterinary care.

Two people were sentenced today in the Joondalup Magistrates Court, for cruelty to their three pet dogs, Milo (male Siberian Husky), Chloe (female Staffordshire Terrier) and Hikari (female Siberian Husky).

RSPCA WA Inspectors have removed 66 animals from a property in Gingin.
The animals appear to be in good condition and RSPCA WA would like to make it clear that this was a surrender of animals – there is no welfare issue with this case at this stage, and there is no evidence to suggest any contravention of the Animal Welfare Act.
This is simply a case of dog breeders with too many animals who have contravened local council by-laws. This case has highlighted just why dog breeding legislation is needed in WA.
