NEW SCHEME TO SUPPORT PET OWNERS AFFECTED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

RSPCA WA is trialing a new scheme offering practical support to pet owners who are living in a domestic violence household.

Through a network of dedicated foster carers, RSPCA WA will temporarily care for victims’ pets while they find alternative housing, and is calling for those interested in becoming a foster carer for the scheme to register their interest - to support the scheme’s viability and see it established as a permanent, long-term service.

RSPCA ‘DUMBFOUNDED’ BY IGNORANT DOG OWNERS FOLLOWING MORE CASES OF DOGS IN HOT CARS

RSPCA WA is urging dog owners to listen to its warning about leaving their dog in a car on a hot day, following a number of new incidents and continual reports to its cruelty line.

Despite widespread publicity in recent years about the dangers of leaving a dog in a hot car, people are ignorantly still putting their dog’s health and life at risk.

FOURTEEN CATS SURRENDERED TO RSPCA WA IN ‘OVERWHELMED CAREGIVER’ CASE

Fourteen cats were transported to the RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre at Malaga yesterday. The cats were surrendered to RSPCA WA following a call from a concerned family member, who discovered the pets inside a relative’s suburban home located in the northern suburbs of Perth.

EIGHTEEN PUPPIES AND SEVEN DOGS RESCUED BY RSPCA WA

Eighteen puppies and seven adult dogs were transported to the RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre at Malaga today.

The dogs have been surrendered to the RSPCA as a result of irresponsible backyard breeding from a suburban home located in the southern suburbs of Perth.

MAN CONVICTED IN WA MAGISTRATES COURT FOR MALICIOUSLY BEATING HIS DOG

Kourosh Bahmani, 49, of Carey Park was convicted today in the Fremantle Magistrates Court of two counts of animal cruelty against a male Staffordshire Bull-Terrier cross.

The dog named Buddy was maliciously beaten by Mr Bahmani and suffered significant pain when Mr Bahmani failed to arrange treatment for a fracture sustained by Buddy to his left leg.

With more horses set to arrive next week, we are now just getting prepared for the adoption process of these horses which will take some time assessing horse compatibility with potential new owners who have suitable equine experience.

RSPCA WA RESPONSE TO THE REPORT BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE

The Select Committee to inquire into the operations of the RSPCA WA was established in the Upper House of the Parliament of Western Australia on 13 May 2015.

It has taken more than a year for this inquiry to finally reach a conclusion. During this time, RSPCA WA has endeavoured, at great expense, to co-operate with the demands placed on our organisation by this Committee.

Be part of our Community Action Day in Ellenbrook!

RSPCA WA Community Action Days are free events where local communities can get together to meet RSPCA Inspectors, local Rangers, local vets, animal rescue organisations and dog trainers.

Through these events, we aim to show people how to be a responsible pet owner and that includes providing information about common problems like fleas, worms, ticks, fly bitten ears, mange, shelter, food and water. We work with rangers to explain pet registrations and local council laws, and there are vets available to give free advice and check-ups.
