Ending irresponsible dog breeding is one of five key animal welfare issues on which the RSPCA plans to campaign in the lead up to the WA State Election in March 2017.
RSPCA WA President, Lynne Bradshaw, said the organisation aimed to get support on the issue from all political parties contesting the election, with WA Labor first to get on board.

The RSPCA has today welcomed the landmark decision by Harness Racing Australia to ban the use of the whip in racing from 1 September 2017.
RSPCA Australia CEO Heather Neil said the removal of whips from harness racing will go a long way towards protecting harness racing horses from unnecessary and unjustified pain and distress.

The annual ‘kitten season’ is now in full swing with dozens of unwanted litters being handed over to RSPCA WA.
The organisation is inundated with kittens every year from mid-Spring to late Summer, putting a strain on its Animal Care Centre in Malaga and slowing down the adoptions of older animals, as more people opt to take home a cute and cuddly kitten.

RSPCA Australia has today stepped up its call to end the battery cage, with the launch of a prominent national billboard campaign.
Concerned about public awareness of the more than 11 million layer hens still suffering in battery cages in Australia, the RSPCA says a disappointing response from the egg industry so far has led it to take bold action beyond the organisation’s more traditional methods of communication.

Today is World Animal Day, a global awareness day aimed at raising the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards across the World.
But for Clara the cat, a long-term resident at RSPCA WA’s Animal Care Centre in Malaga, it’s just another day - her three hundred and sixth (306th) day in the shelter; as she continues to wait for someone to give her a chance, and a loving new home.

Fourteen cats were transported to the RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre at Malaga yesterday. The cats were surrendered to RSPCA WA following a call from a concerned family member, who discovered the pets inside a relative’s suburban home located in the northern suburbs of Perth.
