CONVICTION FOR GREAT SOUTHERN MAN OVER NEGLECT OF TWO PET DOGS

A Great Southern man has today been convicted of animal cruelty in the Albany Magistrates Court for neglect of his two dogs.

Philip Tsipouras, 34, of Mira Mar pleaded guilty to the two charges which related to his two dogs Rosie, a Mastiff cross and Alice, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.

A Win for Animal Welfare in Kangaroo Cruelty Case

RSPCA WA is pleased with the sentences handed down yesterday for the violent bashing death of a kangaroo by two men in 2015, the vision of which is both sickening, and disturbing.

This kangaroo will have clearly suffered significantly as a result of this deliberate and malicious attack, and such crimes against animals warrant strict punishments to send a clear message to the community that cruelty towards animals is not acceptable.

DATELESS DOGS HIT THE CITY TO FIND LOVE ON VALENTINE’S DAY

RSPCA WA is hosting a doggy speed dating event in Perth city on Valentine’s Day to help its dogs find the love of their lives.

From 12pm – 2pm on Valentine’s Day, city workers and shoppers can head down to Stirling Gardens on St George’s Terrace to meet a selection of RSPCA dogs who are ready to settle down and start the next chapter in their life.

RSPCA WA is urging pet owners to prepare their pets ahead of Australia Day fireworks, with many displays scheduled across the State.

Dog and horse owners in particular are warned to secure their animals, with both species renowned for bolting when startled by fireworks.

NEW SCHEME TO SUPPORT PET OWNERS AFFECTED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

RSPCA WA is trialing a new scheme offering practical support to pet owners who are living in a domestic violence household.

Through a network of dedicated foster carers, RSPCA WA will temporarily care for victims’ pets while they find alternative housing, and is calling for those interested in becoming a foster carer for the scheme to register their interest - to support the scheme’s viability and see it established as a permanent, long-term service.

RSPCA WA is urging dog owners to listen to its warning about leaving their dog in a car on a hot day, following a number of new incidents and continual reports to its cruelty line.

Despite widespread publicity in recent years about the dangers of leaving a dog in a hot car, people are ignorantly still putting their dog’s health and life at risk.
